Spring is a season of love and beauty. From the 1st of March, you can feel in the capital the approaching of warm weather, the temperature starts increasing and people pass to less warm clothes. The rainy period starts with an average temperature +10 / +14 C. Considering the weather in Yerevan as a starting point, do not forget that the weather in Armenia will vary from region to region. In March, all begin to prepare for the International Women’s Day, which is celebrated on the 8th of March, the shops begin selling the first spring flowers, among which the most favorite are snowdrops.

Day 1 

Yerevan City Tour

Arrival. On arrival you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. We will have a familiarization tour of the capital, during which you will see all the major sights of the capital, including the Republic Square, the Opera house, the Cascade where you will see the statue of the world-famous sculptor Fernando Botero “The Black Cat”. We will also visit Baghramyan Avenue, where you will see the Parliament, the Palace of President, and the National Academy of Sciences. The excursion also includes a visit to the State History Museum with the valuable exhibits from pre-historic times to our days. We will visit the Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex Tsitsernakaberd and Victory Park. Overnight in Yerevan.

Day 2

 Trip to Geghard and Garni temple

In the morning we will drive east of Yerevan and visit a unique medieval monastery of Geghard, which was included in the list of UNESCO world heritage sites. Some chambers of the monastery were carved out of solid rock and possess exceptional acoustics. We will then continue towards Garni village where we will visit a pagan temple from 1st century AD – the only one remaining from pre-Christian period in Armenia. The temple is located on a triangular cape overlooking the deep canyon of Garni. We can organize the lunch in the village house with lavash baking process. After returning to Yerevan we will visit Matenadaran Manuscript Museum which hosts one of the biggest collections of ancient Armenian manuscripts.  Farewell dinner at a local restaurant in Yerevan with the live folk music. Overnight in Yerevan.

Day 3 Trip to the Spiritual capital of Armenia – Handicraft market

This excursion will take us to one of the oldest and coziest towns of Armenia – Echmiadzin, which is the religious center of all Armenians. The main Cathedral of Echmiadzin was the first official Church built in Armenia. Today it is the Holy See of Echmiadzin, where the Catholicos of Armenia resides. Legend tells that it was here that Jesus Christ descended from Heaven to show where he wanted a church to be built. Echmiadzin means “The Coming of Only Begotten”. On a Sunday you can listen to the beautiful choir performance of Divine Lithurgy here. After this we will visit the archeological site of Zvartnots Cathedral, which is a masterpiece of Armenian architecture! The area is a UNESCO’s World Heritage Site. If it is a weekend in the afternoon you will have time to explore the outdoor handicraft market Vernisage where you can find the most attractive handmade souvenirs, carpets, handicrafts made from local volcanic glass obsidian, Armenian cross-stones (khachkars) made of tuff, some interesting ceramic items and other local souvenirs. Transfer to airport.

Day 4 Sevan – Haghpat – Yerevan 

In the morning driving via deep gorge of the Debed River we will cross to Lori region where we will visit Haghbat monastery –UNESCO World Heritage Sites and important religious, cultural and educational center of medieval Armenia. After which we will be driving back to Dilijan, where we will visit a museum-street of the town of Dilijan, which still preserves 19-century houses. Here we will stop at a ceramicist’s and woodcarver’s studios. Returning back to Yerevan we will enjoy ourselves at Lake Sevan – the “Pearl of Armenia”, which is one of the largest high-altitude lakes in the world located at 1900m. We will visit a 9th century Sevan monastery, perched on a cliff above the lake. From this point we will admire the wonderful view of the lake and if we are lucky we will witness the changing colors of the water. Overnight in Yerevan.
